Rok Garbas

About

I’m Rok Garbas. I build products and help customers understand why they matter.

The Short Version

20+ years in DevOps, SRE, and Release Engineering. Mozilla, Tweag, Flox. I’ve built the infrastructure, shipped production systems, and stood in front of customers explaining why it all matters.

Technical enough to build. Human enough to explain.

The Longer Version

Most engineers can build. Some can talk to customers. Few can do both well.

I spent 6 years at Mozilla in Release Engineering, building systems that delivered Firefox to hundreds of millions of users. I learned what reliability means at scale, what breaks in production, and how to build systems that don’t wake you up at 3am.

Then I took those skills into customer-facing work. Through DevRel, founding NixCon, and technical sales, I learned something engineers often miss: the best solution doesn’t matter if you can’t explain why it solves the customer’s problem.

How I Work

I ask questions before proposing solutions. I align technical capabilities with customer goals. I can run a technical discovery call in the morning, write the PoC code in the afternoon, and present the solution the next day.

I speak both languages: engineering depth when talking to technical teams, business outcomes when talking to decision-makers.

What I’m Looking For

Roles where engineering expertise meets customer success. Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or senior technical positions with significant customer interaction.

I thrive in remote startup environments where you need someone who can understand customer problems, prototype solutions, and deliver value quickly.

If you need an engineer who can demo it, build it, and make customers believers: let’s connect.
